Understanding the Nature of High Energy Cosmic Rays

Extremely energetic particles are observed to strike the earth from outer space. Some of these cosmic rays have been observed to have energies in excess of 1020 eV. The nature and origin of these cosmic rays is not well understood, especially at the highest energies.

In this talk I will focus on what is known, and what is not known, about the nature of cosmic rays above 1014 eV. I will present recent results and discuss prospects for future measurements.
