A Non-Fourier-Transform approach to the solution of small phase retrieval problem

Advisor: Christ Ftaclas, Alex Kostinski

Abstract: The small phase retrieval problem is very important in many applications such as in the direct detection of extrasolar planets, wave front sensing, etc. In the direct detection of extrasolar planets in the visible light region, the ability of sensing and correcting the wave front errors to the order of  are required.

In this talk, a one-dimensional model of reconstructing small wave front errors will be presented and it will be seen that this non-Fourier-Transform approach is very suitable for the potential application of coronagraphs in the detection of the extreme small wave front errors.
