Course description:
A calculus-based introduction to classical mechanics. Topics include mathematical
concepts, kinematics, Newton's laws, the gravitational force, work and energy, and
collisions. Also includes an introduction to departmental facilities, research
within
the department, and professional opportunities in physics.
Intended for physics majors; highly motivated students seeking a challenging and invigorating introduction to physics may enroll with permission of the instructor.
Corequisites: (MA1151 or MA1160) and PH1161
This course is a prerequisite for PH1360
and PH2260.
Restrictions: Open to Physics and Applied Physics majors only, or by permission of the instructor.
