Biography Michael Zaiser, Adjunct Professor, Department of Physics, is a Reader (Associate Professor) at the School of Engineering and Electronics, the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. His main research areas of interest are statistical mechanics of plastic flow, continuum representation of discrete dislocation systems, and instabilities and nonlinear phenomena in deformation and failure (For more detail, see his home page.) He has published more than 100 scientific review, papers, and book chapters, organized and Chaired several International Conferences. He visited the Department of Physics in July 2006 for a week and gave a lecture on his recent research at the joint seminar of Physics and Materials Science and Engineering Departments. |
