DEMONSTRATES: Force required to change the momentum of a dynamics cart.

EQUIPMENT: Dynamics track with dynamics cart, force probe, motion sensor, and computer with Datastudio.

DESCRIPTION: A motion sensor and a force probe are used to plot a graph of the motion of a dynamics cart as it approaches the end of the track and bounces off. The force probe will show an approximately elastic collision. The integral of the force over the contact time is the impulse, which is equal to the change of momentum of the dynamics cart.
