PURPOSE: To illustrate different coefficients of friction.

DESCRIPTION: As the inclined plane angle is steadily increased, the four identical blocks are place on four different surfaces begin to slide at different angles. This is because of the different coefficients of friction of the different surfaces.

SUGGESTIONS: Wipe the sliding board clean with a dry cloth prior doing this demo.

EQUIPMENT: Inclined plane with rubber, styrofoam, and teflon blocks.
