PURPOSE: To demonstrate simple harmonic motion of a glider on a air track held by two springs.

DESCRIPTION: The glider connected on each side by the springs executes SHM about its equilibrium position when released. Additional weights can be added to the oscillating glider to increase its period.

SUGGESTIONS: The picture above is the same setup for the DRIVEN AND DAMPED OSCILLATIONS demo. The setup is similar and they both can be done at the same time.

EQUIPMENT: Air track, a glider, springs, and weights.
