DEMONSTRATES: Electromotive Force (EMF) produced by moving a coil through the earth's magnetic field.
EQUIPMENT: Earth coil, projection galvanometer, radio magnet (optional).DESCRIPTION: Motion of the coil through the magnetic field of the earth induces an EMF which can be shown on a galvanometer. Maximum and minimum readings indicate the alignment of the coil relative to the earth's magnetic field lines.
COMMENTS: A large radio magnet can be used to show a greater EMF
