Koalas are native to the Eucalyptus forests.
In some areas, they are considered pests because they denude (and kill) the trees. In other areas, they are protected.

At the Sydney Zoo

In the wild, along the Great Ocean Road near where we saw the parrots.

At the Australia Zoo. You could pet them there.
