PH1360/2300 Information

Course description:
A calculus-based continuation of PH1160 and an introduction to fluids and thermodynamics. Topics include rotational motion, simple harmonic motion, mechanical waves, fluid mechanics, temperature and the kinetic theory of gases, first law of thermodynamics, heat engines and the second law, entropy, and an introduction to statistical mechanics. The PH2300 students join the class for the last half-semester where the fluid mechanics and thermodynamics topics are covered.
