Text: Electromagnetism, Gerald L. Pollack & Daniel R. Stump (ISBN 0-8053-8567-3)

 

This course will be a traditional first semester course in "Electricity and Magnetism" at the intermediate level as taught in Physics departments. Topics covered will be vector calculus, electrostatics, solution of Laplace's equation, dielectrics, current electricity and an introduction to magnetostatics. This constitutes the first eight chapters of the text. Homework problems will be assigned and graded. Tbe homework total will be given weight equal to one hour exam in the calculation of the course grade. Two hour exams and a final exam will be given. Hour exam times will be determined as the semester progresses. The final exam is on Monday, December 16, at 10:00am.

Hour Exam II will be on Thursday, November 14, in 133 Fisher beginning at 5:00 pm.

Final Exam will be on Monday, December 16, in 327B Fisher at 10:00 am.
