MIGUEL LEVY

RESEARCH

Dr. Levy's field of expertise is in photonics, magneto-optics and the intersection between ferroelectrics and photonics. In recent years he has worked on the development of magnetic photonic crystals in planar geometries. His research presently centers on the physics of magnetic photonic crystals and the extension of magnetophotonic crystals to interesting physical phenomena such as near band edge or near resonance speed of light phenomena and magnetization effects thereon. Another area of interest in Dr. Levy's group is the interplay between strain and optics in ferroelectrics. During the last several years he has also investigated ion implantation-induced defect generation in single crystal oxides for Layer Transfer Techniques.
