PURPOSE: To demonstrate the difference between materials that conduct electricity and those that do not.

DESCRIPTION: A electroscope is placed on a overhead projector. The electroscope is then charged with different materials that have been attemped to be charged by rubbing them with silk, plastic bag or fur. Some will cause the electroscope to move and some will not.

SUGGESTIONS:

EQUIPMENT: The overhead electroscope, positive and negative charging materials, aluminum wire, wooden stick, glass rod, and rubber rod.
